Tips for withdrawing from SSRI?
I am on it for anxiety, not depression. Are there any alternative treatments/techniques I could try? (Besides breathing exercises and cognitive-behavioral, I am familiar with those.) Any advice for alleviating those annoying “zaps” you get during withdrawal?
I found that my anxiety was stemming from gluten intolerance, and many many people have that as a cause. The gluten produces antibodies which attack your intestines and cause damage. Most of the serotonin in your body is located in your intestines, so if they’re damaged, they can’t use it properly. Definitely look into the connection. I ate bread all the time and never noticed a difference until I cut gluten out. People think that if food was the cause, they would know because they would have a reaction right after they eat it. But most people eat gluten every meal, every day, so they always have antibodies circulating. I suggest cutting out gluten and seeing if it helps your anxiety. It’s actually very common. About 1 in 10 people have some form of gluten intolerance.
